
Western Digital has unveiled two new series of hard drives - GreenPower family and My Book Dual-drive. The GreenPower is an environment friendly hard drive with up to 1TB storage capacity. It’s suitable for desktop, enterprice, CE and as external hard drive and is able to save up to 40% in power consumption, or as much as $10 per drive per year, which equates to reducing CO2 emission by up to 60 kilograms per drive per year, great news for environmentalists.
The My Book dual-drive is now available in capacities up to 2TB. The unique remote-access of WD’s My Book World Edition II storage appliance offers users a surprisingly simple and secure way to access and share data, photos, and music at home, in the office, and anywhere in the world - even when their local computer is off.
The GreenPower 3.5-inch drive comes in 320GB to 1TB capacities and will be available by the third quarter of 2007. While the 2TB of My Book World Edition II, My Book Pro Edition II, and My Book Premium Edition II models is available with price ranging from $749 to $799.
