Come to the cost saving when buying Laptop, you can aim for the Ubuntu-based Dell systems. Compared to the Windows version, you can save exactly 50 bucks. Example on a Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop loaded with Windows Vista Home Basic Edition, totaled up to $824, while an otherwise comparable system with Ubuntu installed rang up at just $774.
The above may be true if you’re a Linux user, but I can say it’s still worth to pay 50 bucks to get the Windows Vista version. Occassionally you still can play around with non-Linus apps or games.
