Sony Japan has announced the DVP-FX860DT portable DVD player. The player packs in a 8-inch display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution, fixed by two hinges allowing it to rotate 180 degrees. It measures 228.6×165.3×32.3mm and weighs 1.02 kgs, portable enough for on the go entertainment. The player can play DVD, VCD, Audio CD and MP3, and also JPEG file playback. MP3 files can also be played from USB flash disc with its USB terminal. Adding a Japanese touch is the TV tuner for viewing the 1SEG transmissions on the move, the player also supports EPG. The onboard battery is good for 6 hours of continuous playback.

The Sony DVP-FX860DT will be available in Japan from September 1 for 60,000 Yen ($ 500).
