IM for Skype iPhone
Shape Services, a Stuttgart, Germany-based company, has released their IM+ for Skype software that is compatible with any Java browser, including iPhone which is still in Beta testing. IM+ for Skype is a mobile application that enables voice and text communication with other Skype users and provides cost-effective calling to landlines and mobiles. IM+ for Skype works with BlackBerry RIM, Windows Mobile Pocket PC, Palm OS, Symbian and J2ME devices. The application works in any network and doesn?t require WiFi, the company says. You can try out this for free for a limited time.

The service is based on the SkypeOut package, which allows low-cost calls to landlines via Skype?s VoIP system. Shape Services appear to be using a callback system; it apparently does not need WiFi and is independent of 3G/CDMA/GSM no matter which network or handset you use it with.
