Hewlett-Packard has planned to release four new Pavilion laptops based on the new Intel Penryn processor, after the Compaq series. The new Pavilion laptops are the HP Pavilion HDX 9200 with 20.1-inch display, the Pavilion dv2700 with 14.1-inch display, the Pavilion dv6700 with 15.4-inch display and the Pavilion dv9700 with 17-inch, all are based on the new Intel Santa Rosa Refresh platform.

Among the four new comers, the HDX 9200 is the most attractive model that comes with various Intel processors support, including Core 2 Extreme X9000/X7900 and Core 2 Duo T8300/T8100. It features 4GB of RAM, 640GB storage, dedicated NVIDIA or ATI graphics card, HD DVD / Blu-ray drive, HDMI, wireless, integrated camera, remote control, hybrid TV tuner, fingerprint reader, and Vista. According to the source at motherboard makers as reported in Digitimes, Intel is going to launch eleven 45nm dual-core CPUs for notebooks in the first half of next year, and the company is also planning to launch quad-core versions in the third quarter. The 45nm quad-core notebook CPU codenamed Penryn QC comprise of two Penryn cores in a multi-chip package, adopt Socket P (35m x 35mm), 12MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB and 45W maximum TDP. Initially the Penryn QC will only appear in the Core 2 Extreme series and most Montevina platform notebooks will not support the quad-core CPU.
