MSI is releasing its anticipated notebook, MSI Wind Notebook, which made its presentation in Shanghai during IDF (Intel Development Forum). NVIDIA has unveiled its new GeForce 9000 Series GPU chipset, the GeForce 9300M G and 9500M GS. Both are mid range GPUs designed for us in notebook computers. The GeForce 9300M G has specification:

Fujitsu LifeBook V series
Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation has announced the availability of the LifeBook(R) V1010 notebook designed for price-conscious markets, such as home office-based and small businesses as well as educational segments.

“The Fujitsu LifeBook V Series expands the company’s reach into price-conscious markets, which place equally high priority on reliability and price,” said Paul Moore, senior director of mobile product marketing, Fujitsu Computer Systems. “The high-performance LifeBook V1010 notebook offers excellent value, delivering all the computing power and features these markets need with the quality Fujitsu is known for, and at a price they have been longing for.”

The LifeBook V1010 features a 15.4-inch Crystal View high-contrast widescreen, 120GB HDD, Atheros Super AG(R) Wireless LAN, dual-layer multi-format DVD writer, and spill-resistant keyboard. It is powered by Intel processors with choice of Intel Core 2 Duo T5200 and Intel Pentium Dual Core T2130 processor. For operating system, the LifeBook V1010 offers Windows Vista(R) Business or Windows(R) XP Professional edition.

Microsoft has announced another two new mice for mobile user, Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 and the Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 7000, after the Microsoft Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 with 1GB flash memory. The Bluetooth Mouse 5000 (pictured above) is using 2.4GHz frequency, works seamlessly with Bluetooth enabled computers, of course without a transceiver. The wireless Mouse 7000 (pictured below) is based on Optical Mouse 3000 with 2.4GHz wireless tech, soft-grip for your comfort, magnifier tool and back button. Both of them boast High Definition Laser Technology. These two mice provide “superior wireless technology and sleek, compact designs to keep users working on the go.
The mouse 7000 will ship from this month while mouse 5000 will be available from next month, each for $50.

Sony HES-V1000 Home Entertainment Server
Sony has introduced a new Home Entertainment Server, Sony HES-V1000. This server offers a full HD 1080p 200-disc Blu-ray Disc/DVD/CD changer (196 12cm BD/DVD/CDs and four 8cm BD/DVDs) and 500GB hard disc drive that can store up to 137 hours of video, 40,000 songs or 20,000 digital photos. It provides the new x-Application which includes x-Pict Story HD and x-ScrapBook. x-Pict Story HD utilizes unique layouts with sophisticated face-recognition technology and syncs transitions with music selected from personal content libraries to create a unique photo slide presentation, while x-ScrapBook offers a compelling slide show that the device automatically arranges in a very fast timeframe to explore memories in a personalized digital scrapbook. Users can also export both types of slide shows to Blu-ray Discs or DVDs to share with family and friends. It has the ability to wirelessly stream music throughout the home with a router to other devices, including Sony?s CPF-IX001 wireless music player and other Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-compatible wireless devices, such as PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3) videogame console and select VAIO notebook computers. Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U
Verizon Wireless has announced the availability of the Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U USB modem, providing access to its high-speed Evolution-Data Optimized Revision A (EV-DO Rev. A) network. Customers using the AirCard 595U modem can expect average download speeds of 600 kbps to 1.4 Mbps and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps. The AirCard 595U modem comes with VZAccess Manager software, which is compatible with Windows 2000, XP and Vista operating systems. The AirCard 595U modem also features an internal, removable battery to ensure there is always enough power support to handle peak or fringe area transmission requirements.

Toshiba has received three reports outside of the United States of notebook lithium-ion batteries overheating which posing a fire hazard to consumers, hence they have announced recalling the notebook that are affected. The recalled lithium-ion batteries were sold with, or sold separately to be used with the following notebook computer models: Satellite A100, Satellite A105 and Tecra A7. The battery model is printed on the battery, they were sold from January 2006 through April 2006 for between $680 and $1,300 for the computer systems and for between $90 and $120 when sold separately. For customer who are affected, Toshiba advised to stop using the recalled batteries and contact Toshiba to receive a free replacement battery. Consumers can continue to use the notebook computers safely, by turning the system off, removing the battery, and using the AC adapter and power cord to power the system until the replacement battery is received. Consumers should use only batteries obtained from Toshiba or from an authorized Toshiba reseller.

You might be aware about the Energy Star specification, it’s the rules set for computer equipment in order to have low power consumption. From July 20, 2007, Energy Star’s new specifications for computers goes into effect, Energy Star 4.0. The new computer specification is expected to save consumers and businesses more than $1.8 billion in energy costs over the next 5 years and prevent greenhouse gas emissions equal to the annual emissions of 2.7 million vehicles. Since computers are in use many more hours per day than in the past, Energy Star has strengthened its requirements to better save energy among computers and related equipment under today?s usage patterns. At launch, 122 desktop and notebook PCs met the Energy Star 4.0 qualification. 102 of those 122 qualified products are notebooks. Big-name notebook makers with models approved for the Energy Star include Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, Acer, Toshiba, and Hewlett-Packard. Dell, Gateway, and HP also have desktop models.
