Lenovo IdeaPad U110 notebook
Lenovo has announced its entry into the global consumer PC market with the launch of a new line of notebook and desktop PCs, the Lenovo IdeaPad notebooks and IdeaCentre desktops, complement Lenovo’s business-oriented ThinkPad notebooks and ThinkCentre desktops. The new IdeaPad U110 notebook, and IdeaCentre Q200 and K200 desktops will be initially offered in multiple countries including the U.S., France, Russia, South Africa, India, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, China, the Philippines and Singapore.

IdeaPad Notebooks, the IdeaPad U110 is an ultraportable 11-inch widescreen notebook PC, weighs only 2.4 pounds and is 0.7 inches deep. It is powered by Intel Centrino processor technology, combine cutting-edge and easy-to-use technologies such as facial recognition and Dolby Home Theatre surround sound. The IdeaPad U110 also makes a bold design statement with frameless screens, touch-sensitive control surfaces and unique textures. Ideal for highly mobile users, the powerful notebook provides extensive computing time with an additional battery and the performance of optional solid state flash drives. Lenovo also equipped selected configurations with its Active Protection System, an air-bag like device that parks the hard drive to help protect data during a fall. The textured design embedded in its red or black aluminum alloy top cover blends style and durability.

Gateway One PC unveiled

Gateway has introduced the Gateway One PC, it is a Mac-alike machine which only requires one cable, plus it uses wireless peripherals making your desktop more elegant. The 19-inch widescreen display provides 1400 x 900 resolution, 850:1 contrast ratio and less than 8ms response time. It also houses integrated speakers (based on NXT SoundVu technology) and a power button. As reported previously, it comes in three models: two online and one retail. All of them includes dual layer DVD burner, up to 4GB RAM, 802.11a/b/g/n wireless, TV Tuner, an infrared Media Center remote control, and Windows Vista Operating System.

The “industry’s slimmest and most stylish computers yet” comes with decent specifications so could be a good buy for fashion conscious prosumers. “Gateway One exemplifies the idea of simplicity, of less is more,” said Gary Elsasser, Gateway’s senior vice president of products. “This computer complements its environment and becomes a design element you want to show off as much as you want to use. Because it doesn’t compromise on features or performance, it will be appreciated for its brains as well as its beauty.”
