Samsung Electronics has debuted the development of world’s first 30nm 64Gigabit multi level cell NAND flash memory chip, and also a 32Gigabit single level cell NAND flash chip based on the same technology applied to 64Gb chip. With the combination of 16 64Gb flash devices, the company is able to make a 128GB (Gigabyte) memory card which can store up to 80 DVD resolution movies, or 32,000 MP3 music files, wow. The new high-density NAND flash will intensify demand for solid state drives in notebooks, and for other NAND-based storage devices in applications such as digital camcorders and enterprise servers.
The production of 30nm-class 64Gb flash devices will begin in 2009.
