Palit Microsystems, the leading graphics card manufacturer, has announced two new Palit Radeon 3800 series graphics cards, Palit Radeon HD 3850 and HD 3870. Both are the first of AMD series that support PCIe 2.0 technology and based on 55nm process technology allows to provide full performance with lower power consumption. For Palit’s own design HD 3850, we provides something more and above the reference design. Palit HD 3850 and HD 3870 both support the latest DirectX 10.1 shader model 4.1 technology which delivers improved HDR lighting and anti-aliasing and also frees the restrictions on AA support, provide better visual experience. Also features integrated HDMI and native support for Blu-ray and HD-HVD decoder, next-gen multi-GPU technology which enables the Quad scalability for performance leadership and also extends the overclocking ability on multi-GPU. The HD 3850 comes with DDR3 512MB/256bit RAM while HD 3870 comes with DDR4 512MB/256bit RAM. The list of features:

  • Ultra-Threaded Shader Engine. Support for Microsoft DirectX 10.0 Shader Model 4.0 programmable vertex and pixel shaders in hardware.
  • PCI Express 2.0 Support. Designed to run perfectly with the new PCI Express 2.0 bus architecture. PCI Express 2.0 products are fully backwards compatible with existing PCI Express motherboards for the broadest support.
  • Ring Bus Memory Controller. Up to 512-bit internal ring bus for memory reads. Full associative texture, color, and Z/stencil cache designs.
  • AvivoTM HD Video. Fully integrated HD audio capabilities and supports playback of multi-channel (5.1) audio streams. Avivo HD enables a one-cable HDMI connectivity solution to high definition home theaters.
  • Built for Microsoft Windows Vista. NVIDIA’s fourth-generation GPU architecture built for Windows Vista gives users the best possible experience with the Windows Aero 3D graphical user interface, included in the new operating system (OS) from Microsoft.
  • CrossFireXTM. Upgrade to even greater 3D performance quickly and easily thanks to plug-and-play ATI CrossFireX technology with up to quad-GPU support.
  • CATALYST. Rock-solid stability and regular updates bundled in a user friendly customizable control center.
  • OpenGL 2.0 Optimizations and Support. Ensures top-notch compatibility and performance for all OpenGL applications.
  • Dual-link DVI Support. Able to drive the industry?s largest and highest resolution flat-panel displays up to 2560 x 1600.
  • HDMI Capable. The High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is an all-digital audio/video interface capable of transmitting uncompressed streams.

The Radeon HD 3850 has more to mention:

  • The Revolutionary Cooling System on Palit HD 3850 combines the advantage of silence from heatsink and the advantage of thermal conductivity from fan.
  • The Effective Cooling System designed by Palit’s R&D team successfully lowers the GPU temperature to 79.8 degree celcius.
  • Lower Noise is produced by Palit’s own design HD3850. With Palit?s revolutionary cooling system, the noise is successfully reduced to 31.55dB (the decibel is 28% lower compared to the default cooling system), provides better environment for noise concern customers.
  • With Native HDMI on Palit HD 3850, there is no extra need for DVI-HDMI dongle. No extra fee to enjoy the true to life HDMI experience.
