Mad Catz just launched the AirDrives, its new spin on earbuds. Instead of turning to in-canal earbuds or cupped headphones, a new design that has the best qualities of both camps: the small speakers with an over-the-ear clip take up little space and make them easy to carry, but a new technique — titled InAir by the accessory maker — lets the buds sit over the ear canal rather than inside.
They are practical for every day use for two reasons, first, they meet OSHA standards for all day listening. Second, they don?t block near as much ambient or surrounding noise, so if someone is talking to you or if you jogging and need to listen for cars, you can still hear. Available as kid set for $70 and a adult set for $100.
