With its coming high-end enthusiast and gaming platform, Skulltrail motherboard, Intel is going to launch a new desktop processor, the Core 2 Extreme QX9775 Quad-core. The Extreme QX9775 features 3.2GHz frequency, supports 1600MHz FSB (Front Side Bus), and uses the server-based socket 771. The new CPU is based on an Intel Xeon server processor and Intel will use SMP technology enable to Skulltrail to support up to two quad-core CPUs for enthusiast players in the desktop market, according to the sources.

Expected to be available soo with price at US$1,499.
