In the near future, you won’t need to have cable to connect to USB peripherals. Dell and Lenovo just announced the first notebooks with embedded Certified Wireless USB chips, which will enable cable-free connections to USB peripherals hooked up to Certified Wireless USB hubs that D-Link and IOGear also announced. Additionally, D-Link and IOGear announced Certified Wireless USB adapters that you can plug into USB ports to add the functionality to notebooks and PCs that don’t have it built in.

NTT DoCoMo, the world’s leading mobile communications company, has began testing an experimental Super 3G system for mobile communications. With this experiment, DoCoMo will seek to achieve a downlink transmission rate of 300Mbps over a high-speed wireless network. Super 3G features low-latency data transmission and improved spectrum efficiency. It is a highly advanced version of High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and High-Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA), which have been evolved from W-CDMA packet transmission technologies standardized by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). The 3GPP, a telecommunications standards organization, is currently discussing standardization of Super 3G under the name Long Term Evolution (LTE).

Freecom Technologies has announced their new product, a Wireless digital internet radio and MP3 player, MusicPal. It means, with this device, you can pay internet without the use of a PC, streams MP3 music from your computer or network via WLAN. Adding convenience, there are also features such as supports of over 5.000 radio stations, alarm clock functionality, live RSS feeds / blog feeds in display. The device comes with built-in speakers and Wireless LAN antenna, stereo audio out (2xcinch) to connect to HiFi/Amplifier set, Line out (minijack) to connect to headphones or active speakers.

Here is a new product from Belkin in providing wireless connection, a four-port wireless USB hub F5U302. Connect with your USB devices, it lets you transfer data at the full USB 2.0 speed of 480Mbps over a 30-foot range. This might come in handy for a printer that you’d like to locate off in a closet somewhere, but besides that, it seems like it has limited usefulness.
