
Asus has unveiled the upcoming ultra mobile PC, Asus R3 UMPC. It is going to be available in 2008, meanwhile not much information is available now. Expected to come with a 4.8-inch touchscreen display, 1204×600 pixel resolution, GPS, webcam and a fingerprint reader.

Sony has continued to update its VAIO UX series ultra mobile PC with 64bit processor. These new series comes with models as Vaio UX 72, Vaio UX92S and Vaio UX92NS. These can be configured with Intel Core 2 Solo U2200 1.2GHz and U2100 1.06GHz processors. Sony has also reserved the 32bit option with Intel Celeron M523 processor. Another significant update is the changing of 40GB HDD to 64GB SSD (Solid State Disc). Other feature of this head turning gizmo remains same such as 1GB RAM, 4.5-inch display with 1024×600 pixel resolution, 1.3 mega pixel webcam, fingerprint reader, 802.11a/b/g wireless, Bluetooth, 3 hour battery, and Vista Premium (64bit).

This 7-inch screen UMPC with only 950gram weight, is powered by VIA C7-M Ultra Mobile Platform. It features with 1GB of RAM, 30GB hard drive, 800X480 pixels resolution, full size keyboard, touch pad, 4-in-1 memory card reader, two USB ports, stereo speakers. It also comes with built-in Wi-Fi and VGA webcam so that you can video chat with your friends while on-the-go. The battery is able to last 3 hours and running on Windows XP Home Edition

Verizon Wireless has announced the availability of the Sierra Wireless AirCard 595U USB modem, providing access to its high-speed Evolution-Data Optimized Revision A (EV-DO Rev. A) network. Customers using the AirCard 595U modem can expect average download speeds of 600 kbps to 1.4 Mbps and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps. The AirCard 595U modem comes with VZAccess Manager software, which is compatible with Windows 2000, XP and Vista operating systems. The AirCard 595U modem also features an internal, removable battery to ensure there is always enough power support to handle peak or fringe area transmission requirements.

HTC has released the most anticipated of its 7-inch UMPC, HTC Shift. The great thing about this device is the two CPUs of Intel A110 800MHz and Qualcomm 400MHz processor. With the two CPUs, the UMPC also runs on two operating systems of Windows Vista Business and Windows Mobile 6.0 respectively. By pushing a button you can shift to each mode.
