Sharp has unveiled its new innovation, a polycrystalline photovoltaic module that achieves the industry?s No. 1 module conversion efficiency of 14.4%, the peaked-roof/ flat-roof model: ND-191AV. The new modules will incorporate a newly developed highly efficient cell that reduces the loss in power collection by increasing the number of main electrodes from two to three, and increases the light receiving area by making the electrodes thinner. Through these improvements, module conversion efficiency has been increased. In addition, the strengthened wind pressure resistance of racking systems and modules allows them to be installed nearly all the way out to roof edges, expanding installation capacity considerably.

With its wide WUXGA (1920×1080) resolution, the new LCD boasts excellent picture quality, ideal for preview monitoring and verification use in broadcast stations and post-production studios. It features high luminance of 460 candelas per square meter (cd/m2), a wide color gamut of 97% (NTSC ratio) and a double frame rate of 120 Hertz to improve motion picture performance.

LG introduced a new 20-inch LCD display which shares the ability to output video using solely a USB connection rather than requiring DVI or VGA output from a video card, the LG Flatron LX206WU. This technique, which allows up to six of these wide LCD displays to be linked to a system or laptop via USB, could find itself popular amongst consumers wishing to have more options for multiple displays. The Korean company also promises a higher-quality display than most with a 5,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and a 2ms average pixel response time, though the company does not say whether the display can handle HD video or other advanced tasks through the USB connection.

If everything goes according to plan then you’ll be able to experience the amazing 3D content that literally appears to pop more than a foot off the screen without using any special glasses. “Now the next big thing is 3D. LG has unveiled a new LCD monitor for PC that offers the HD movie viewing more enjoyable, the LG W606. The W606 comes with the Digital Fine Contrast (DFC) technology that boasts the contrast ratio to 10,000:1. “The monitor offers greater depth when viewing movies, making darks darker and whites whiter. The higher ratio offers greater image clarity and color shading not previously experienced on a computer screen.“, according to LG.

Hitachi introduced two new LCD monitors in Japan market, the Hitachi 19LM-W1 and Hitachi 17LM-1. The 19LM-W1 features a 19-inch WXGA+ LCD screen and 1000:1 contrast ratio, while the 17LM-1 features 17-inch SXGA LCD screen and 800:1 contrast ratio. Both has a brightness of 300 cd/m2, and use a HDMI input instead of usual DVI.
